New Delhi, 2nd January. BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Satish Upadhyay has requested Lt. Governor of Delhi Shri Najeeb Jung that Disaster Management Lanes should be notified on all the 70 main roads marked by the Disaster Management Authority. Shri Upadhyay said that there is great pressure of traffic on the roads of Delhi and it has often being seen that even ambulance, fire tenders and PCR vans are stuck in traffic jam.
Many times ambulances are unable to pass through the traffic and the patient dies before reaching hospital. According to a report on Delhi every year 20-25 new born children die because ambulances did not reach the hospitals on time and pregnant women delivered in the ambulance where there was no facility for the care of new born.
Similarly, in the case of incidents of fire or collapse of buildings, the fire tender and ambulance are stuck in the traffic and small incidents turn into big tragedy.
Shri Upadhyay said that during the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, lanes were dedicated for the sportsmen and sports managers. Similarly, Delhi Government should notify dedicated lanes for use of vehicles during emergency and the people should be made aware of it.
