New Delhi, 22nd December. BJP Pradesh President Satish Upadhyay has drawn the attention of Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh on the problems of Delhi Police and requested for solving these problems.
In his letter to Union Home Minister in this context Shri Upadhyay has said that during the tenure of Smt. Sheila Dikshit Government in the last 15 years, the PWD completely neglected the maintenance work of police colonies resulting in unsatisfactory conditions of basic amenities in the police colonies. There are double storey buildings in the largest police colony of Delhi, Kingsway Camp Police line but the condition of these houses is very pathetic. The boundary walls of this complex have also become very weak and the families of the police personnel feel the danger of unsocial elements also.
Upadhyay said that similarly the condition of basic amenities in the police colonies of Malviya Nagar, Hauz Khas, Andrews Ganj, R.K. Puram, Narela, Paharganj is not good. In all these places, the water supply and sewerage system is unreliable due to which the families living in those colonies are facing problems.
Upadhyay further said that in comparison with the general families, the policemen do not have regular working hours and due to this they are unable to take care of the problems of their families resulting in tension in their families. Hence, the duty hours of the Delhi Policemen should also be fixed.
In his letter, Shri Upadhyay has said that the maintenance of the Police Colonies should be immediately taken care of. The PWD should be given orders to maintain the buildings and sanitation work in Malviya Nagar, Hauz Khas, Andrews Ganj, R.K. Puram, Narela, Paharganj police colonies. A systematic policy should be adopted for Kingsway Camp Police Colony and a department should be created under the Delhi Police for maintenance work and in view of shortage of land, multi storied flats should be constructed. On the one hand the Police personnel shall get better housing accommodation and on the other hand, the problem of shortage of staff quarters for Delhi police will also be solved.
